Know more about your PAN Card:



PAN  a 10 digit alpha numeric number, first 5 letters, followed by 4 numbers and a letter.
 These 10 characters of any PAN card is categorized into five groups.For futher details:

01.  First three characters are alphabetic series running from AAA to ZZZ

02. Fourth character of PAN represents the status of the PAN holder.
Where C Company,P  Person ,H  HUF(Hindu Undivided Family) ,F  Firm ,A Association of Persons (AOP) T  AOP (Trust) ,B  Body of Individuals (BOI) ,L  Local Authority ,J  Artificial Juridical Person ,G government

03. Fifth character is a 1st char of last name/surname of PAN holder.
04. Next four characters are sequential number running from 0001 to 9999.

05. Last character is an alphabetic check digit.

The DOI Date of Issue of PAN card is mentioned at the right hand side of the photo on the PAN card.

For the FY 2011-12 and years before this, you need to visit Income Tax office and request them to allow you to do the return filing for these financial years so that you can do so by filling offline ITR forms.

PAN Card permits the government to track all your financial transactions and helps in checking whether your taxes and major financial expenses are consistent or not.
